2022-11-16 A Prayer: Whirlwind

O Lord, see us tried as though by a whirlwind; see our unexpected strength first tested by You, in whom we are fortified. See You our armor. Nary a dream dared we dream in times past; had we not Your comprehensive and upbuilding Spirit, we would have languished in our misery and self-doubt. Not that You fault a meek outlook, but You have vision grander and all-encompassing: each of us Enlarged, in order that our modesty of purpose might be all the more circumnavigated and properly owned. So that You amidst our lack of vision, our acquiescence to things You do not intend us long to remain in: insecurity, hungers, living as though by an equation, petty routines and godless imaginings; are swept up and worked over unto true change. You have made us what we never dared imagine. Loved. Conscience satisfied that this is no concession to lame thinking or sell-out mentality. We can attest that Your Spirit is real, and has a Divine mission to recreate us who are in the first place Created.

Your Spirit is all systems go and multi-channel audio and hits all the right notes. Yet see us feeling a little held. A little respite from the many avenues of decision (and of reassurance) we wrestle upon each day. You have shown us the best of ourselves, as matched against the Intention of Yourself, who this day has strapped us in and held us as we grow a spurt, as we go through a first experience of dependence, of decisive day for the weary in us; tomorrow, more and new avenues, but today, a sense that we gave our all, and that was nothing compared to what You carried us through. For, it is with Fatherly determination that You choose whom and how to save. To love. To give rest and meal at day’s end.

Grant rest for all those things, behaviors, of ourselves and of others, that clamor for resolution this day; whether friend or foe, help them to be at peace with what behaviors have been on the scene. See us really and truly renegade at times, and with deeper needs than any polite society can explain. See dire need and saintly response. See us in dream world connecting and making New, those intrusions upon our mind’s peace.
