A Prayer: Seasons

2023-02-04 A Prayer: Seasons

O Lord, seasons come and seasons go. Help us be brought low as one man, that we may rise as one man. See us on diverse timetables and puzzling over a personal attack precisely when we intended to be calm, and calm precisely when we have space to doubt and search. Lord, each of us runs gambit and curiosity around holy things; we struggle and we bask; we know a medium state of slight worry, apprehension, but all this that we may know Your overweening strength. You make us stronger for the sake of the journey already begun. Our journeying ratchets into timelines synchronous with each other. Somehow we are able in the immediate and the Now to confess all and receive all. We can therefore start anew, with clean slate. So help us to float along while also in trench battle with so much. Nurture us, esteem us worthy of Your salvation, reward us even as our minds are set on ignoble things, war within and strife without. Make us made over in the already and the now, not fixing ourselves on our own strength but given wide latitude to dwell healthy and secure.

We pray all this in Your Name, Amen.
