A Prayer: Modern Quiet

2022-11-10 A Prayer: Modern Quiet

O Lord, passing memories come to mind in the abstract. Times we had more of a safety cushion, or were more naive as to how life is to be lived. We are today different and on march, amped, and would be post-trauma were we not also accelerated into Your embrace. So we wonder and stand fascinated at the comfort zones we once knew; we let them lie, today, because we are in a new kind of realm and a new kind of certainty, relying on a hazarded, post-traumatic, amped outlay. On fire, we dwell secure. In peace, we find the unquestioned courage to fight. All these things because You have normalized the walk to the Cross. You have shown us Grown Things and Fleeting Oases or Fleeting Calm in this life. Even You, O God that You are, was on the fringes and Alert, Awake, Astonished (were it not for the heaven-sent embrace) by the evil in men’s hearts.

O Lord we simply plead now for permission to live on so strangely nurtured; it is strange, the calm afforded by a friend in the midst of these accelerated times. It is strange, the calm we find simply in our own prayer hour, that hour cherished and that hour fulfilling all Promises and Prophecy: You created in seven days; we too see awesome things brought about in that amped hour and that certain fellowship. So cultivate us, teach us taste, for a no-time-to-delay race to Your fight and Your concomitant Calm.

It seems we are half-crazed, yet Peace in believing, no simulacra or false fabric of the faith as properly received this day; we lived on, even though all whispering said we must end our quest here and this very day. And so the thoughts of warm abodes in this world, fall away, as we dwell post-trauma yet post-healing as well. Difficult to explain, we know You understand, and Your people as well.

We pray all this in Your Name, Amen.
