A Prayer: Many Voices

2023-03-08 A Prayer: Many Voices

O Lord, out of many voices we have turned over a new leaf in You. You were with us in the trials. See vistas open; see how we understand the ones who doubted us because we grant them a “language”, more than just the persecution-complexes we’ve grown used to. No, these are not quite nakedly inimical, but are using language and theology to keep us, it can feel, at a distance.

Today we understand them because we have done the penitence, and for once see how they see. We were faulted for being impenitent, but only imagined it to be dislike of our person.

Help to dwell nearer to that positive landscape: it is a world with less tumor and malignity than what we assume, than what we concede. In our world as experienced today, You reinvest in us, so our accounts are up to date. That in itself is all the love we need, though we languish and also rob ourselves of broad vistas; not all of life is evil.

We pray all this in Your Name, Amen.
