2023-01-31 A Prayer: Coming Alongside

O Lord, help us in the final issue; where we struck a losing bargain, grant grace to concede; where we were hermetically avoiding things, lead us into awareness, awareness of what to an onlooker could even be obvious. See us tolerate thus much and no more. See us sheltered by Your loving patience from things that spiritually flatten, that deaden; see us alternate and draw near, only then to be cast to the ground by unknown forces; we do acknowledge we live into and depend upon concrete facts. So do help us to brush off the dust and reckon squarely with what good assurance, provenance, estate You have gifted. See us dynamic and once again three dimensional; see us coping via wide estate and grand inheritance.

See us pained but not defeated. See us obstructed but not hindered. See us mocked but not discouraged. In all things we return to a patience and a modality that is offensive. They do not like our fast or our simplicity. They wish for us to show the same hungers and marriage to things of this world. But who knows but that You speak through myriad types and a wondrous cast of brethren, sistren; we are those overcome with gratitude and pure bliss in Your estate, an estate consisting of so much more than gold: containing the trusting coming alongside of actual souls blessed in You and peaceful to those whom they recognize. We recognize each other. We dwell in a chilly outward temperature but a communal warmth and just enough for the day’s worries. We thank You and bless the day for its reliable repetitions of comfort and inspiration, inspired to Believe and to Encourage, to dwell into some cynicism and calculation overcome; overcome is that defeated sense that nothing good can come between two souls, a friend is called by the devil simply opportunistic or too happenchance; yet we see real camaraderie, friendship, and goodness. We love, and let You overcome all training to the contrary. We discover some eternity here and now.
