A Prayer: Blinding Light

2022-12-08 A Prayer: Blinding Light

O Lord, see torrential stuff; see cataclysmic change; that is, see us excited alongside despondent; much good is encouraging, but at what cost to our brethren near and far? What tricks are up a devilish sleeve? Lord, we plead through scripts and conditionals, source code and simple office presence, Your presence, You deigning today to bless those who are for this moment in the limelight.

Seen or unseen, help us to reserve a place in our lopsided, addicted, manic and depressive, hurt, longing, frustrated, selves for the ones You today call unto something not even with the formal name of “Christian”, but Christian nonetheless. Help us thus to be broadminded at what individual Important People have brought to a pan-religious table. Help us no longer to equate all with time and chance, with reason and formalism, but simply to say, here was passion. Here was fruitful time spent, here was enough outlay to last in eternity, on some accounting.

So we are not cynical, not despondent, as torrential stuff changes the entire ballgame except our simple respect for near spirit and soul, our simple love for the gender we choose to love, and our friendship and love of another form, with all genders; grant us to stay passionate though curtailed, romantic although sirens are proclaiming a new level of war and reality. See us most energized onwards to fight, and at the same time never losing sight of Your pastoral Eden, of what we fight for, of what we carry with us through the tempest.

Help, when basic communication channels already are flawed; help that coder who makes ways for those willing and eager, to remain within earshot of each other; see cold and removed bans or hindrances. See us not sufficiently prayerful, perhaps, and therefore not finding that mystical port of entry, to the gathered faithful, to the congregation, to the fighter blood-invested, intertwined across chasms, soul brother or soul sister, long promised and one good day realized. See us hope not for simple needs but to know You have crossed past those, by indulging us and our whims, by showing us a better way.

We pray all this in Your Name, Amen.
