2024-02-11 A Meditation on Simple Thoughts
“7 Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. 9 Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited those devoted to them. 10 We have an altar from which those who serve the tent have no right to eat. 11 For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy places by the high priest as a sacrifice for sin are burned outside the camp. 12 So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood. 13 Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured. 14 For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come. 15 Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. 16 Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” (Heb 13:7-16 ESV)
Reckoning and basking, to allow God’s Spirit our hearts, to nurture and to envelop, we are in strange mindset because all life reduces to a scenario; our peace place is a setting well known, it is where we somehow equate God-stuff occurring. Somehow this location or time or together-ness does ministry unto our heart of hearts, reckoning, basking, quite ill-equipped to earn our way into life’s next chapter but no matter, heartened and built up unto Receptivity and Patience.
To discover and to allow that maybe eternity is in our grasp, that maybe life after all had a more urgent or dire impact upon our site of memories, our locus of recollections, our tangential filing away and logging. Somehow a telling existential goodbye to a loved one. A rancorous hello to a loved one as well, or a peace and glide of wherewithal Situation and Site-Licensed fellowship. We fellowship, we allow for simple aspects to be In Toto aspects, somehow this is where we needed more of that Love, more of that Camaraderie, just More. We needed no high accolades but an answer to a question mark of a dream awoken from in the night, or a Next Stage for what pauper’s digs we do find our thoughts simply do reside in.
A poor man’s hoard. A poor man’s cache. A poor man’s or woman’s edifice; it is one we do well to pray through and to allow to hear our noisy appreciation or silent reverence. Life threw all its terrors our way, and we rose up the stronger, outfitted and suited up. We were able to bask in an undeserved temp spot, to reckon with a Higher Authority who eases us into the next stage or coaches us through the setting sun, day’s end, bright morning for the morrow. Somehow it all seemed pat, it all seemed more basic than anything we could have dreamt up. The fact of a Peace Locus, a Thought Cache, a Relevance or Situational Approach, we approach the situation known and familiar, with our daily meditations and prayers. We envision something fermenting in, yes, that locus. We dally in great hope for matters slight and meager; no measure of our career success but rather the concern lived large in heart and mind right exactly at the moment of career success or accolades received. How, amidst it all, did I do right by so-and-so? Who had the gumption, the nerve, the dance appropriateness and fittedness, to walk beside me and live life to its fullest in simple appreciation for each other. For each other’s poise. For each other’s unafraid cachet. For each other’s mystical New Level, thought on a level pristine and received, gift and means of untold pleasures of spiritual kind. Grace, to know each other not in misery and dying regrets, but lived large, no cynicism reigning but Promise and Life and Hope and Fulfillment. Even as we suppose all life to be a devil’s game. Even as we suppose all fellowship to fade in the end notes. Even as we suppose it was a loner’s game. Even as we thought all in it for themselves, or all beleaguered and possessed, devilish and failing; all this ended when once we allowed for a basic climate, a notion of simple togetherness, a Place holy and divine, to project our deepest heart’s longings onto and to use as a teaching point or location. All can relate. All can live in appreciation for a more basic divinity. All can do this by way of good deeds towards their fellow man and woman. Our fellow who isn’t greed-stricken. Who isn’t falling short. Who is in it to win it, the game and the together aspects that hearken our hearts to Believe and to Receive.
