A Meditation on Simple Reflection

“3 Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. 4 In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5 And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. 6  For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.” 7 It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9 Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. 11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. 12 Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, 13 and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed. 14 Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. 15 See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; 16 that no one is sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal. 17 For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears.” (Heb 12:3-17 ESV)

Astonished at what Imagined and Heralded Facts lie behind one person, the imagination ends and pick-me-up teaming up begins: what is heralded is Christ For Us, ambitious to make the right pact with the right people, the Christian serves a higher power. That higher power is unblind militancy around a Creed, militant because caper and scenario are rightly seen as Intelligence Boons, sources for Intelligence work, for sincere—the heart has to be in it, if we are to be truly good actors and effective agents—Gospel Witness and together array, sky pattern, marching orders.

Christ for us is the fact, what we are is plain for all to see. The cagey prayer time, in which unspeakable Facts, personages “of interest”, capers dynamically sought out and revolved around unto the End of self-giving Service, militant Readiness, all-on Mentalism, this prayer time bears fruit for the season of Witness. Of Recruitment. Of a Together Sigh: God is for us, we are newly convicted and remade by the preaching pointers, or by the camaraderie examples.

This caper is, again, Christ For Us: any guilty conscience, any self-approving notion of “let me prove my mettle” is met with this: He is more eager to forgive us than we are to forgive ourselves. Hence the fear: I am being mocked, degraded, ruined by my own words, as counterpoint to my sinful outlay. But God is not mocked! And He has allied with we ourselves, so any mockery of Him, is a mockery of His people whom He has reared.

Do you today feel inept? Incorrigible? Blissfully lazy? Take it on faith, that come Tomorrow’s War, you will be lance and spear, shield and helmet, to the Duty and to the New Usefulness of just Whom you are in Christ. We do see the church body tolerate criticisms, hopefully criticisms that aren’t “too sharp” as to be permanently hurtful; but we also see the church body rise up with good and Christian principles: that we must bear one another’s burdens. That my mistake… it is shared around the circle.

Come Tomorrow’s Alliance, with God the Father, with the manipulator, rather, the “handler” and “spymaster”: we are energized around things unspoken and around facts not easily “earned”: that we are kit and caboodle of His lancing forth militancy and efficacy in today’s rapidly-changing world. That His authority, it transcends earthly powers, because His security clearance is high, and His wisdom is innate, and His reliance on even the small ones like Us, it is with affection and with Trust. That He knows us better than we know ourselves, and, “Hey, Master, let me prove myself trustworthy…”: He has already decided, and not to make it all a boring game since the outcome is Known, He has left it entirely up to we His people to decide how and why Man’s wars come about, where and when even being a fruit of what His trusted people do. Sinners, but trusted. Because—can you believe it—His wars are out of our comprehension at times, are high and sophisticated, are remarkable and elite. Yet they come down to us in translation as war around His Final Answer to the prayers of mankind: that Heaven is ushering in, and Peace is around the corner. All we see… these are but the first skirmishes.
