A Meditation on Liberation

2023-09-09 A Meditation on Liberation

“21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24 which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, 25 that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.” (1 Co 12:21–26 ESV)

Liberation, from the soul of boundaries formed with other souls; spirit comes and spirit goes, to be found in the final issue faithful, clothed in righteousness, part of a vast project called Fellowship: group think yes, yet more: this holds no candle to the merged and aided will. We, like the apostle Peter of Jesus’ own time, will go where another directs us, and be dressed as another dresses us (Jn 21:18). Such is the receipt called Submission. Such is the weightlessness of that submission properly understood, no heavy demand nor churched lawsuit against our prerogative and our being, but the spirit that comes today and tomorrow goes, back and forth, finding us in Fellowship: with our fellow Man, Woman; with our fellow soldiering spirit.

No longer afraid to lance forth, strong for the wear, aided in Divine and Supernatural ways; Today, is that blessed estate called Submission. Today, is that hope around an unseen corner, in a wondrous and flamboyant exercise of the terms of engagement, which terms exorcise and bring to the light of day all demons, all persnickety selfish clasps, all clutching, all panic-stricken damnation.

The Hope, then, shared in the very midst of a world curtailed and demanding, enslaving and lugubrious about respecting the Individual and the Person. Today is a fine time to clasp firmly ahold of the Spirit gifted to us by our fellow thought-warriors, with whom we share mesmerized, reflection, back-and-forth wonder: just how and what does my fellow or my gal think about such-and-such? And that wondrous hour, a respite from a life wearied and hunched over, our occasional nightmare, for in fact it is a delight together to venture into the unknown, to entertain excitedly a Project called Salvation History; who, we sing, and when, we rhyme, is salvation coming to this household? And where shall we be, but as elders who approve, as forerunners who bless, as friends who gift? Today the soldier is in trust fall with her or his company, fine men and fine women towards whom there is nary a doubt as to their fittedness, but a sensitive and meek trust fall: let them be accounted worthy of the good deed, but as for me and my household, I trust, I embrace faith, I work out a salvation fully submitted and partner to the excellent entreaties and presence of my fellow Man, Woman, soldiers in Christ.
