A Meditation on Future War

2023-10-19 A Meditation on Future War

“18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.” (Eph 6:18–20 ESV)

Only a remnant shall survive? A future war spells the end of our complacent and familiar situation, and the fruit of many women and men, working on ideas, working on intelligence, working on the preservation of humanity. It means a decimation, by some future-thought. It means all is on the table: is the nation sacrificed for the greater world government? Is the religion sacrificed for the unassuming secular peace? Is the project of the human soul sacrificed for some bold religiosity?

And, pondering what is past, looking backwards in time, we shall only be humble that we were not more evangelical, more warmed to our digs, more certain of our calling and election as sure, more into that great human Jesus.

The future war is waged by women and men of Inspired residence near unto Grace. Here, there is successful prayer. Here, there is faith… that what is received in the love of Christian witness, shall not mislead, shall spell an end to the belligerence and warmongering, shall answer life’s questions without a chip on the shoulder.

For the enemy has taught us some things: to work with an event horizon constantly rolling forward. Our event horizon is no longer some “life as we know it”, but rather we appeal to the soul of man to recognize an Event to trump other events. This is a fraught world, a world on the brink of war, a world with a future war only glimpsed out of partners in prayer and fellows or gals in unity.

Our unity is that of the sacrificial lambs at times. Our unity is that of the patient time-busting lovers at times. Our unity is that of friends assured and we, we stronger for the experiment. Eternal life stands before us; shall we answer the Call?
