2022-12-01 A Prayer: Inbreaking
O Lord, hear the comfortably evangelized in each of us, that is, where we speak casually of Your Name, or think ourselves largely in step with You, help that pleading soul within that is thirsting and that is unkempt by the reason and formality of what we call “Jesus faith”.
That is, see us gradually grown to ease and familiarity in Your Name, in our testimony, in those routine reminders that spell our thought process: “Must be like Jesus!”. Grant transparency, to a soul now razed by impossible dilemma, a horrific equation, a sad concession; so that we be raised up with angel’s wings, to attain to a Presence and a Sincere lover of our soul, named You.
See, we scarcely know how to speak, except we are master artificers of the “Christian walk”. O Lord, we plead for humbling experiences, for occasions to be humbled, turned up in more polite company, if that be in Your wisdom a path to abiding fellowship with You. Only with You. Only in the Name of Spirit and Presence. Only in the participation of wretched soul with Divine One. See that we have greater burdens of sin than others, perhaps, but therefore greater Divine exchange and heart-sealed Response from You. Make that fleeting advantage not a stumbling block, for we plead that we are still poor in this life, spiritual perceptions notwithstanding.
O Lord, grant us forward-thinking courage, knowing the mistakes do cling to us and do put us in bondage ever more to sins, but today those are atoned for. So help us to carry on, not pausing to try to account for the miracle and the Presence in our life, but wildly and well-advisedly stepping up to the plate, to be Your people, to know and respect that You raced to the Cross, to know all this as near neighbor and close encounter, with what is the greatness of You. See us grateful and recipients of a Miracle world, a Loving melody, a Gifted favor from You. See us find salve for the wound and water for the thirst, an end to quieted yearning and a beginning of blanket absolution and new life in You.
We pray all this in Your Name, Amen.
