“15 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. 11 Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.” (1 Cor 15:1-11 ESV)
As Christ talked of His master’s house having many rooms, likewise strange overdetermination of reality allows would-be enemies in this life to achieve their respective objectives in the eternity. But the key point being: that we all have objectives, and they strangely mesh at times. Part of our Christian faith is a body trained, perhaps aided by some fasting, to recognize instincts originating in what is Holy, and instincts originating in what is dull or self-assertive. And the bald claim that “I am authority figure” or “Submit to Me!” overlooks that even kings and queens—the nomenclature argued over—can find something incommensurable: whether the people submit, whether there is any practical top-down authority in situ, in fact, in the equation.
That is, we give orders to each other in strange and group-think mode. It isn’t just that the so-called Proselyte, who lies face down before the bishop, has overcome—symbolism notwithstanding—certain internal demons and hangups that hinder the submission going forward. We receive Orders not just in fear—Machiavelli notwithstanding—but in Love: the objective being an objective we ourselves perhaps don’t yet fully understand, but some rewards system that is a bit, has a tendency towards, of something more Holy. Because to submit to the Lord is to embark on a strangely self-wrought journey. It is a journey of mocking, in every eventuality, our rational thinking on the matter, our own assigned Reasonings insufficient to explain plainly the Long-Term Love on display, His for us.
Any “A.I.” has programmed into it a valuation method, a system of rewards and punishments. Ours, our internal mind’s A.I., increasingly benefits from Unidirectional Love spent in our direction, to the end of a more pure and a feckless, a gentle and strangely Lavished Love even as panic or reason calls for a more pragmatic and utilitarian response. Helter Skelter, so many fronts seem to need aid, but God shows His love for us in that while we are still sinners, He dies for us. To instill a Reward Mechanism, a search function, in our souls for what is priceless and Eternal. Accidentally, even, we do what is Kosher and Upbuilding of the saints. Accidentally, we learn to be a useful sort of submissive soul. Accidentally, we see that indeed those of purer heart are always Questioned, always Denied, always Doubted. For us all to get along, requires some belief in a house with many rooms. It requires plain and straight talk on the lunacy of kings and queens at a time when a diorama of puzzles and crimes and persecutions are patiently calling for our attention, beyond just that obsessed-over question of just who is “head”. You can be “head” without any higher calling to Love. All of us are called to Love. Love is the message. Love is the self-giving necessary. Love is the accidental Fruit of a soul who has with absurd levels of hands-off and respectful Tone, been themselves loved on. God doesn’t what automatons, either, rather He has designed some Created in His Image notion to invest in and patiently to watch over. Therefore we Fight, because it wasn’t about ourselves, after all. All of us can know the pleasure of taking orders, perhaps, provided we have Faith in the utmost. Because that awful Pinch of contention, it doesn’t mean an equal measure of one person winning or the other person winning, rather, meshing, we can see strange objectives of some Witness on display, beating out the plain aggressor or less evolved Mood, Reward system. And we pray our own Reward system be Christ for us, the sinless for the sinful.
