2023-05-25 A Prayer: Haste

O Lord, in all the ways that we stumble through life, help in Your gifted insights as they precede the great flood of familiarity and of unspoken inner spirits exercising themselves.

Help, as we draw near unto trying hours, continually to listen, continually to pause or to combat actively the commonality of our inclinations, the easy familiarities, the whispered thoughts that are so plain and kosher, yet then are aborted or swept aside or fall victim to spirits we scarcely knew had found harbor in our hearts. We harbor so much, and relish something New and Pure that You have scarcely spoken into our lives before it is brought to active opposition, to war, to a shelled out frame, burned over and fractured by some immediate haste. Help us, as we are hasty, to see through to Tomorrow’s repeat: again, we shall have Your investment followed by attack and despair. Again, You shall recreate and renew opportunities that we missed. Help as this reaches astonishing warp speed, just to wait in patience and cease thinking we can muster the courage all on our own.
