2023-03-14 A Prayer: Greater Fields

O Lord, try and prove to us—forgive us, we are weak in imagining sometimes—that greater fields and great harvest are near, around some corner, ours to live into by Faith.

As accouterments are winnowed, as soldier ratchets up all mammon as unneeded and excess, as fighter runs the harrowing assignment, we come full circle and once more dwell in Your courts. You assure the despondent. You meet the forlorn with abundance. You eagerly teach us that as our souls are on the line, our embedded estate is a rich passage and ticket to Heaven Now.

We have courage to take on the day, miracles being par for the strange excited course we walk. Even if this day is our limit when it comes to heroism and sacrifice; to witness Your power, Your presence, Your sympathy in Your Son, is to know that the battle is not in vain. You in Son occupy our thoughts and waking dreams. See no foolish foray but planned and purposeful Incarnate deed, just as You went behind foreign lines to minister Truth, Peace, Fullness, to us.

We rest assured You are with us, and near to us, and will take us through the trial and in true passage, true form, ticketed unto a New Tomorrow, and biding our time on this terrestrial ball as so much glad service, occasion for optimism, for accompaniment, things too great for us to imagine into being, but that You in Incarnate Son gift to us: new experience, new friendship, new season.

We pray all this in Your Name, Amen.
