A Prayer: Determination

2023-02-10 A Prayer: Determination

O Lord, out of angst, and out of haste, and out of determination, we pray: let us not lose sight of our highest ideal, though madness threatens to undo, though tremors of inimical spirits invade our space, though questions push us to the brink. Help to elevate, not out of pride or ambition, but because You are always at work, and there is a tug-of-war. There is a call to play the game. There is a call to end oppression of our being; see us at the mercy of name-calling and hatred; see us listen a little too willingly to the naysayer; see us sadly informed of just how a spirit opposed was at work.

Do hear us, we pray, and grant saving encounter with Your hardworking Trinitarian goodness. See us labor because of those attacks on our very selves too determined for our lesser confidences; grant composure and sure-footedness to regain confidence, as all things seem to go up in a swirl. As all things seem to evaporate, as though simple us were not positively loved and created and made New. In our very lives, show patient determination. Show us accepting of that simple prayer of composure, reclining or standing in peace, waiting rightly for Your peaceful air alighting overhead. Help us thus to know ourselves, that we may know our Creator, You in fighting pose, at the ready, willing and able, carrying what failures we have brooked, and letting our better fight show forth; for, we believe.

We pray all this in Your Name, Amen.
