A Prayer: Restless

2023-01-07 A Prayer: Restless

O Lord, restless we seek You; see the cost that we didn’t know before; see they rupture; see they ask us to concede just that one point, that we were saved before we knew any better, that we had our moment with You and You alone, with Your blood shed, with Your Cross, with Your Rising for us.

See the rupture when like industrial movements in the night tankers and containers shift around, massive former ties now ruptured, yet also amidst our despondency a Vision: that indeed You have a plan for peace for the nations, built on we Your people, and our humble deeds of service.

Humbly we bring restlessness to You, while the simpler facets of our faith journey become now interesting and life-affirming to us. We meld and live in the simpler facets. We saw great hatred acting out as though unbridled, undisciplined, unrepentant. We perhaps alone saw this, as a greater Common Person felt the same desire to shout “Crucify!” It seems all the world is against us at times, but also we are not ashamed of the people You have given us, fellow-travelers, comrades in arms, faithful co-religionists, people who shared some kind of experience. So the cargo ship and the semi-truck and the industrial level, corporate level, rupture will be tolerable under Your patient and yet urgent umbrella of love and of care.

We pray all this in Your Name, Amen.
